Ledg started as a spreadsheet. A very messy spreadsheet. Running a small Canadian business solo is genuinely strange, whether you're a freelancer or a 1-person corp. You wear every hat, tax season arrives, and suddenly a pile of unsorted transactions becomes a real problem.
We built Ledg because the existing options were either built for bookkeepers who already know what a journal entry is, or built for US businesses with an optional “Canadian tax” module bolted on. Nothing in the middle felt like it was built for the reality we live. So we made it.

A lot of accounting software treats Canada as a translation problem. Ledg is the opposite. Canadian tax rules, Canadian filing deadlines, Canadian provinces, and Canadian privacy law are the default. Everything else is an extension later.
